Demand Driven Leader (DDL)

The Demand Driven Leader program was developed by the Demand Driven Institute. The DDL Program equips senior and mid-level operations and supply chain managers with the ability to design, implement and sustain a Demand Driven Operating Model (DDOM).

The formal planning and execution method Demand Driven MRP (DDMRP) is the basis and designed to correct the inadequacies and inappropriate rules of conventional Material Requirements Planning (MRP) given today’s more volatile, complex and service oriented supply and manufacturing scenarios

The DDL Program is THE official preparatory course for the Demand Driven Leader Professional (DDLP)tm Certification exam.


The DDMRP concept ensures a shorter throughput time in production and logistics processes so products can be produced in a controlled way. Naturally, this has the advantage that there is less stock, the production processes are less stressed and the delivery reliability is improved.

Demand Driven MRP is a method of inventory planning and control that builds on the currently recognized approaches from MRP, Lean, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints. DDMRP is a ground-breaking method for stock reduction.

Course content

In the course the traditional way of inventory planning and control MRP is questioned. It teaches you how to reduce stocks by creating buffers where they contribute most to absorbing variation and protecting the flow time (flow). The student learns methods for actively controlling the volume of buffers based on the size and variation of the demand and the lead times in production and purchasing. The participant learns how to measure the inventory performance and how this can be improved. The following topics will be covered:

Classroom sessions

The course is given exclusively in class, for two consecutive days. During the lessons there is a lot of interaction and the participants are actively involved in making calculations of stocks and order quantities. The communication during the course days is in English.

The course materials are as prescribed by the Demand Driven Institute (DDI) and consists of:

  • Background information on the Demand Driven Institute website

The costs for this two-day course is € 1.395, - excluding VAT and exam.

The course material, coffee/tea and lunch are included. The exam can be done online at a time to be determined by the participant. The exam can be performed on a location which would be most convenient for the participant. For the exam prices and to register for an exam, please go to: DDI exam information 

Course duration and study effort

The study consists of two consecutive course days. The total study load is 30 to 50 hours for the entire course. The variation in study time depends on the experience and prior knowledge of the candidate.


Each Participant of the DDL course will receive a certificate of completion from the Demand Driven Institute. In addition to that, the participant can contact Demand Driven Institute after the course to plan an exam which is taken from your own computer.

During the exam, there is camera surveillance with the webcam of the computer. The exam is in English. When the student passes the exam, he may use the title DDLP, Demand Driven Leader professional.

This program provides 16 maintenance points for an APICS CPIM, CSCP or CLTD certificate.
